Akrysmir moved away from the figure and over to the wall. With both hands, she let her fingers slide across the amethyst stone's surface, searching for marks, symbols, and hidden signs in the stone.
A faint tink—like glass cracking under pressure—broke the silence.
Then the scream came. Not human. It pierced the silence like a fissure in reality—not through the ear, but straight into the mind. Shrill and unbearable, as if torn from death itself.
